Engine management matched to the build
MaxxECU is a range of programmable engine management systems for performance vehicles. The right model depends on cylinder count, injectors and coils, electronic throttle, sensors, CAN devices, logging and the control strategies the project requires.
Perfect Tuning sells and supports MaxxECU from its Sherbrooke, Quebec workshop. We can supply the ECU, connectors, sensors and universal or custom wiring, then help with startup and tuning.
Understanding MaxxECU Gen1 and Gen2 names
The established MINI, STREET, SPORT, RACE and PRO models use the original platform, commonly called Gen1, even though Gen1 is not always written in the product name. The new series is clearly named GEN2 TRACK and GEN2 RACE.
Next generation
MaxxECU GEN2 TRACK
TRACK does not mean track-only. It is a modern alternative to the Gen1 RACE for professional builds with up to 8 fully sequential cylinders.
It includes 8 injector outputs, 8 ignition outputs, dual wideband, dual knock, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, an IP68 enclosure, high-speed logging and Lua scripting.
Flagship Gen2
MaxxECU GEN2 RACE
GEN2 RACE is the higher-capacity model in the new range and the natural PRO successor for most new, complex installations.
With 16 injector outputs, 12 ignition outputs and up to 12 fully sequential cylinders, it targets professional tuners and I/O-intensive builds.
Which model should you choose?
| Model | Position in the range | Common project fit |
|---|---|---|
| MINI Gen1 | Compact entry level | Simple builds, auxiliary control or selected transmission applications |
| STREET Gen1 | Street and simpler swaps | Builds that do not require electronic throttle or extensive I/O |
| SPORT Gen1 | Mid-range performance | Turbo street, drift and track builds with electronic throttle |
| RACE Gen1 | Established motorsport model | Advanced builds; compare GEN2 TRACK when planning a new project |
| GEN2 TRACK Gen2 | Next generation, up to 8 fully sequential cylinders | Modern Gen1 RACE alternative for most advanced 4, 6 and 8-cylinder builds |
| GEN2 RACE Gen2 | Higher-capacity Gen2 model, up to 12 fully sequential cylinders | Natural PRO successor for new complex and I/O-intensive installations |
| PRO Gen1 | Established flagship | Existing installations and specific builds; compare GEN2 RACE for a new project |
This table is a starting point. Final selection must be confirmed against the engine, sensors, functions and harness.
The quick Gen2 selection guide
- GEN2 TRACK: the first model to consider for a new advanced build with up to 8 fully sequential cylinders.
- GEN2 RACE: choose it above 8 fully sequential cylinders or when the build requires more inputs, outputs and expansion capacity.
- Gen1 RACE or PRO: still relevant for selected installations, but compare them with GEN2 TRACK and GEN2 RACE respectively before starting a new build.

Frequently asked questions
Do you ship MaxxECU products across Canada?
Yes. Perfect Tuning is based in Quebec and ships MaxxECU products to Canadian customers.
Can you help before I order?
Yes. Send us the chassis, engine, transmission, fuel, power goal and intended use so we can verify the ECU and accessories.
Can MaxxECU control a ZF 8HP?
Yes, with a generation-specific approach. MaxxECU can directly control a compatible GEN1 8HP45 or 8HP70. For a GEN2 8HP50 or 8HP75, MaxxECU can manage the engine while TurboLamik controls the transmission. A GEN3 8HP51 or 8HP76 can also work with TurboLamik, but requires a GEN2 8HP50 or 8HP75 valve body respectively.
Not sure which MaxxECU you need?
Send us the vehicle, engine, transmission, power goal and intended use. We will help you build a coherent parts list.
