Why the 8HP70 donor matters

Dodge 8HP70 — Charger / Challenger / 300C RWD: our Supra kit bolts on to this transmission.

Ram 1500 5.7 pickup 8HP70: the adapter kit bolts on, but the driveshaft and transmission mount are different. We quote those parts for your installation.

Ram EcoDiesel 8HP70: the swap is still possible, but it needs a completely different adapter kit. We review and quote the correct kit.

Share the donor vehicle, year and transmission identification in your build notes if you are unsure which version you have.

Choose whether to replace your engine ECU or keep it. Every option still needs the right wiring and transmission preparation.

Track Gen2

Engine + 8HP control in one ECU. Our usual recommendation for a complete 2JZ swap.

ALTERNATIVE

Race Gen1

Combined engine and transmission control with the previous Race generation.

Patch or complete engine harness required. MaxxECU flash required.

FLAGSHIP

Race Gen2

For demanding builds needing more capability. Usually beyond what a typical 2JZ swap requires.

ECU-only package. Wiring and required accessories are selected separately.

KEEP YOUR ENGINE ECU

Mini 8HP kit

Keep your engine ECU and use the Mini kit for the transmission, subject to compatibility review.

Universal 8HP harness and basic map included. MaxxECU flash required.

Retain your engine ECU with a dedicated transmission controller.

Already have a compatible OEM flexplate? You can keep it. For a new flexplate, choose SFI or DomiWorks 81010001; OEM supply is not offered. Confirm the correct bolts, spacer and converter fitment.

Transmission cooling

Cooling plan

The regular option uses a Vibrant 12952 cooler without a fan. Fan-assisted options depend on mounting space and availability. Lines, fittings and mounting are quoted separately; fan-assisted cooling is recommended for Circle D converters or drift.

Build on a starting calibration
