Why the 8HP70 donor matters

Dodge 8HP70 — Charger / Challenger / 300C RWD: our Supra kit bolts on to this transmission.

Ram 1500 5.7 pickup 8HP70: the adapter kit bolts on, but the driveshaft and transmission mount are different. We quote those parts for your installation.

Ram EcoDiesel 8HP70: the swap is still possible, but it needs a completely different adapter kit. We review and quote the correct kit.

Ram AWD / 4WD donors, including EcoDiesel: require a DomiWorks transfer-case delete kit to convert the transmission for RWD use, plus a shorter driveshaft. The driveshaft length must be reconfirmed for your installation. This conversion does not replace the engine-to-transmission adapter kit.

Share the donor vehicle, year and transmission identification in your build notes if you are unsure which version you have.

Engine + 8HP control in one ECU. Our usual recommendation for a complete 2JZ swap.

Combined engine and transmission control with the previous Race generation.

For demanding builds needing more capability. Usually beyond what a typical 2JZ swap requires.

Mini 8HP kit

Keep your engine ECU and use the Mini kit for the transmission, subject to compatibility review.

Universal 8HP harness and basic map included. MaxxECU flash required.

Already have a compatible OEM flexplate? You can keep it. For a new flexplate, choose SFI or DomiWorks 81010001; OEM supply is not offered. Confirm the correct bolts, spacer and converter fitment.

Transmission cooling

Cooling plan

The regular option uses a Vibrant 12952 cooler without a fan. Fan-assisted options depend on mounting space and availability. Lines, fittings and mounting are quoted separately; fan-assisted cooling is recommended for Circle D converters or drift.

2JZ starting calibration matched to your build.
2 hours total for preparation, remote startup assistance, logs and technical exchanges.

Full-load dyno tuning is separate.

RECOMMENDED FOR COMPLETE TUNING

Complete Engine & 8HP Tuning

Your MaxxECU engine and 8HP calibrated together, at Perfect Tuning or remotely with your local dyno.

Build review, starting calibration and startup assistance.
6 hours of dyno tuning for engine and transmission.
Up to 10 hours of log review within 60 days of your first tuning session.
Fueling, ignition, applicable boost control, shifting and engine/transmission coordination.
Drivability and cold-start refinement, plus your final calibration backup.

Dyno rental is extra and paid by you. This package replaces the base package.

Arrive ready to tune

We review your ECU, injectors, fuel, sensors and installation details. Mechanical and wiring faults must be resolved before tuning.

Dyno rental is separate

You pay dyno rental for either delivery option. For remote tuning, arrange a suitable dyno, an operator and reliable internet; our tuning support during the session is included in the premium allowance.

A clear scope

One vehicle and agreed hardware/fuel configuration. Repairs, later hardware changes and additional specialist time require a separate agreed quote.

Follow through on the result

The premium package includes up to 10 hours of log review within 60 days of the first tuning session. This is separate from its 6 hours of dyno tuning.
